A Sunday Edition Special Event With Suzanne Brockman; Advocacy, Representation and getting Real

October 20, 2025

Sunday Edition Presents: A Conversation with Suzanne Brockmann – The Legacy of Jules and Robin

Originally recorded Thursday night at 8 PM Eastern, this extraordinary conversation with bestselling author Suzanne Brockmann dives deep into LGBTQIA representation in mainstream romance and the broader world of inclusive literature. Suzanne was open, honest, vulnerable, and fun—offering insight, laughter, and reflection in equal measure. This marks the first in a special series of conversations celebrating authors who have forever changed the landscape of romantic fiction. Part Two of this series will arrive in November.

At the heart of this discussion lies one of the most groundbreaking and emotionally resonant storylines in modern romance: the love story of Jules Cassidy and Robin Chadwick.

For readers of Brockmann’s beloved Troubleshooters series, Jules first appears as a sharp, compassionate, openly gay FBI agent whose courage and integrity shine from the start. Across several books, his path intertwines with Robin, a talented actor battling denial, family pressure, and the difficult journey toward self-acceptance. What begins as tension and hesitation evolves into one of the most beautifully written love stories in the genre.

Suzanne crafted their story with patience and authenticity, giving both men the space to face the realities of coming out, finding love under public scrutiny, and building a relationship that could survive fear, fame, and the chaos of real life. Their journey reaches its emotional pinnacle in “All Through the Night,” the first mainstream romance novel to feature an LGBTQIA couple as its leading protagonists. More than a Christmas story, it was a cultural turning point—a book that changed the game for representation in both romance and mainstream publishing.

Suzanne speaks candidly about her early attempts at bringing queer and diverse characters into her stories, and the fierce denials she received from publishers who feared the market wasn’t “ready.” Through persistence, courage, and an unwavering belief in authentic storytelling, she broke through those barriers. Her personal advocacy—deeply influenced by her son, actor and activist Jason T. Gaffney—fueled her commitment to visibility and equality long before the industry caught up.

When “All Through the Night” was released, Suzanne donated every cent of its profits to MassEquality, supporting the fight for marriage equality in Massachusetts. That act of advocacy mirrored the novel’s message itself: that love is love, representation matters, and change begins when someone refuses to back down.

Throughout this episode, we trace Jules and Robin’s emotional arc—from the early sparks of “Hot Target,” through the deepening connection in “Force of Nature,” to their wedding and resolution in “All Through the Night.” Their story mirrors the larger cultural shift Suzanne helped create: a journey from secrecy to openness, from denial to joy, and from invisibility to celebration.

For those of us who believe in the power of stories to move hearts and open minds, Jules and Robin’s love remains one of the most authentic depictions in contemporary fiction. It’s tender, flawed, funny, and deeply human.

We were proud to feature this trailblazing author, “Mamma Bear,” and advocate for equality in every sense of the word. Join us for a conversation that honors courage, creativity, and the enduring truth that love always finds its way.

Stay tuned for Part Two of this conversation coming in November.Episode Notes

The AI Audio Summarizer Shortcut for iPhone and Mac Here is a powerful shortcut that works across your Apple devices to take any audio file and use Apple Intelligence to create a clear and comprehensive summary. It’s perfect for processing voice memos, lecture recordings, or meeting audio right on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac without needing any third-party services. What the Shortcut Does When you give this shortcut an audio file, it performs the following steps automatically:

  1. It first transcribes the entire audio file into text.
  2. It then uses Apple Intelligence to analyze the transcript and generate a well-structured summary, using headings and bullet points to make the information easy to digest.
  3. It saves this summary as a new, richly formatted note in your Apple Notes app.
  4. Once finished, it verbally announces, “Summary ready,” so you know the process is complete.

How to Install the Shortcut

  1. Follow the iCloud link to install the shortcut: https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/f0ff07a2e53f4cbd916161bfbfa6a5e3](https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/f0ff07a2e53f4cbd916161bfbfa6a5e3)
  2. The Shortcuts app will open and display the shortcut’s details.
  3. Navigate to and activate the “Add Shortcut” button to add it to your library.

How to Use the Shortcut There are three primary ways to use this shortcut:

  • Method 1: Using the Share Sheet

This is the easiest method and works well in apps like Voice Memos or Files. Navigate to the recording you want to summarize, activate the “Share” button, and then select “Summarize Audio” from the list of share options.

  • Method 2: Using Quick Actions (macOS) 1. In Finder on your Mac, select the audio file you want to process. 2. With VoiceOver, open the context menu by pressingVO+Shift+M. 3. Navigate down to the “Quick Actions” submenu, and then find and activate “Summarize Audio”.
  • Method 3: Running it Directly 1. Open the Shortcuts app on any of your devices. 2. Find “Summarize Audio” in your list of shortcuts and activate it. 3. A dialog will appear asking you to select an audio file. Choose your file and activate the “Open” button.

Important Requirements

Sunday Edition: How Now Shall We Live

October 1, 2025

Sunday Edition presents: How now shall we live

Next up in our series of faith in modern times and in our lives conversations, Lorna, Mark, DJ, and Gabriel are back at the table. And the guest we are all eagerly waiting to share some time in conversation with is… Drumroll please… You

Join us this Sunday at 1 PM Eastern on 2020 The Beacon as we explore taking the tenets and the lessons of our faith, all faith, for we are not extolling one faith above any others. It is more about the connection to something higher, to something bigger, to each other, and most importantly to ourselves.

How do we take the things we believe in and turn them into actionable items. How do we filter the never ending news cycle, the commentary, the ugliness in debate and action using the things our faith teaches us. And how do we begin to bridge the divide between ideologies, faith, and lived experience.

For show executive producer and host Anthony it is all about love and humanity. We are all humans and we are all in a cycle of love, and if we remember that and draw down to that, it is easier to separate the noise from the music.

And we want to hear from you. How do you carry your faith through the dark times. How do you turn the lessons of faith into life actions.

Listen live at www.2020thebeacon.com or go directly to www.2020thebeacon.com/listen. You can ask your Alexa device to enable 2020 The Beacon, or find us on GetMeRadio and Live365.

Sunday Edition: Literacy in the BVI Community

September 24, 2025

Sunday Edition Show Notes Title: Literacy in the Blind and Low Vision Community Original Air Date: September 21, 2025

This week’s Sunday Edition launched the first in a series of conversations on literacy in the blind and low vision community. With a mix of experts, real time Braille users, and diverse voices representing non Braille reading literacy, this discussion opened the door to deeper understanding of what literacy means for all of us.

Panelists explored a wide range of topics including Braille literacy, print disability, electronic literacy, and how artificial intelligence can support access. The dialogue highlighted the importance of respecting and validating all forms of reading, writing, and communication. For some, Braille remains central. For others, like myself, secondary conditions or sensitivity loss make Braille difficult or impossible. In those cases, alternative methods become vital.

Together we looked at how to bridge the divide and how we can stand united in advocacy for literacy in all of its forms. This was an engaging and thought provoking conversation, setting the stage for more episodes to come in this series.
