Sunday Edition Presents: The High Partial Experience 

Last Month Sunday Edition began a series of conversations to promote understanding and move towards healing and uniting. This month we will continue with the High Partial Experience. Some of us may agree that there seems to be a hierarchy of status in our  community.  . There are certain cliques and groups that feel micro-aggressions and differing treatment by other groups and cliques. With all the disagreement of late in our organization it has become clear we need to begin the hard work of understanding and respecting each other for our shared advocacy and issues as well as; if not more important our differences. Sunday Edition continues the conversation focusing on the experiences of our Brothers, Sisters and non binary siblings who are “High Partials. , Panelists include: Zelda Gebhard, Jessica Tomlinson, Robyn  Wallen, Terry Pacheco and Becky Dunkerson; A great conversation to have as we all also shout out the :”Mothers” in our lives; all mom’s of all ilks. The focus of this conversation will be to shine a light on some of the perceived differences of how High Partials experience ACB and its offerings and community. Pam and I agree that keeping the format close to the first conversation and continuing to stoke the bravery is the way to promote the second half of the show dedicated to brainstorming healing ideas and promoting getting to know each otherss experiences. We will ask you to share from your personal experience and allow for us to open to the audience for theirs.

Sunday Edition presents: Assimilating into the Blind VI community after loosing Sight

This week Anthony and Crew welcome the Facilitation of a hard conversation by ACB  MHW Chair Pam Shaw. Anthony will join panelists Jeff Thom, Pam Metz, Tom Babcock and Mary Lee Turner as we share our experiences breaking into and assimilate into the Blind VI community. Often it feels like a  invisible barrier is placed for those of us who have lost sight mid life. We will share the good and frustrating; invite the audience to share as well and then brainstorm ways to bridge the divide and begin the healing.

This week Anthony and crew welcome Tony Stephens and Roy Samuelson back to the show. We will find out what they have been up to, and we will dive into all the information about the Helen Keller inspired AFB film, “Possibilities,” taking film festivals by storm. Tony will share with us how we can get free screening tickets in the Los Angeles area and other potential screening opportunities.

This week Sunday edition speaks with Iris C.E.O., Troy Otillio, and Chief technology officer, Jeff. We dive into the artificial intelligence announcements and the future of AI and the service… We talk some of the misteps and corrections over the last year and we present some questions from the community, including the hard button item:

Will there be price increases in 2025. Troy makes a bold announcement on this front, and shares a lot of the direction. The company is taking to solidify itself as the leader in visual interpretation and artificial intelligence.

Sunday Edition is celebrating 4 amazing years of: Bringing news, new tech, deep interviews and conversations, tackling the issues and having a lot of fun. Doing this show means a lot to me and I have had the opportunity to get to know so many of you because of Sunday Edition. I have a few surprises lined up and have invited a bunch of friends to the show, memorable past guests to share in the celebration and there will be a lot of time for our audience to reminisce.

This week, we welcome members of the employment committee to talk about the employment survey and to compare it with other national surveys. We will also discuss things that have worked in employment searches and if statistics truly represent the blind community.

This week, we welcome Cassie Trosper the current president of Veterans of ACB and Jennifer Bazer from Palmetto Council of the Blind which is in South Carolina to talk about exciting news from their affiliates. The Palmetto Council is just a few members shy of having enough members to have the board vote on their constitution. Both Cassie and Jennifer have exciting journeys to share.
